Hummingbird Festival

This classic Southern Georgia celebration buzzes with fall family fun October 15-16

Main Street will be bursting with all things autumn at the Hogansville Hummingbird Festival this October. The “City of Friendly People” invites the entire family to get into the harvest spirit with more than 200 vendors and open storefronts dressed up for the season.

Buzz through the unique crafts, antiques and activities this two-day, old-fashioned festival offers. Little ones will enjoy the kids play area and the dozens of rides this annual celebration boasts. With so many unique options for the family to enjoy, it’s no wonder why the Hummingbird Festival has earned a spot in the Southeastern Tourism Society’s “Top 20 Events.”

Get a running start into this award-winning affair with the Tower Trail 5k which takes place two weeks before the main festival. Runners, walkers, strollers-even Fido–are welcome to attend this kick-off bash on September 24. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers. Once families have crossed the finish line, they can head on over to the Miss Hummingbird Pageant–a preliminary competition for Miss Georgia and Miss America pageants.

Or dance under the Harvest Moon at Hogansville’s signature gala at Victoria Belle Mansion on Thursday, October 13. Upon arriving at the dance and silent auction, visitors will start off this weekend affair with great music and a chef-prepared spread sure to delight taste buds.

Once this historic town’s festival begins, the party for the senses continues. Regional artists, enthusiasts and hobbyists fill the sidewalks with colorful works. Local culinary experts serve up some of the best smells and tastes Midwest Georgia has to offer, all while live musicians fill the crisp fall air with sweet sounds of the South. Fly, don’t walk to Hogansville’s 19th annual Hummingbird Festival this fall.
