With three major sports events in December, Flagler County should expect to see more sports visitors

December, 2014 –Palm Coast, Florida – Flagler County continues to prove its value as a destination for sports tourism with its hosting of the inaugural US Club Soccer National Premier Leagues Girls’ Showcase December 31, 2014 – January 2, 2015. The event will take place at Indian Trails Sports Complex, which earlier this year also hosted Palm Coast’s first collegiate national tournament when it welcomed the American Collegiate Rugby Association’s Women’s National Championship in early December.

The NPL Showcase will feature top girls teams from across the country in the U-15, U-16, and U-17 age groups, and is expected to draw attention from college coaches scouting for their teams.

The selection of Palm Coast as host for the event follows the inaugural NPS Boys’ Showcase, hosted by Las Vegas, Nevada, in March of this year. One would expect that Vegas might be a hard act to follow, but Palm Coast is up to the challenge. Local leadership expects the community to feel a significant economic impact, as was enjoyed during the women’s collegiate rugby national championship and is expected when the Bassmaster College Series South Regional Tournament comes to Bunnell at the beginning of the year.

A listing of teams accepted into the showcase can be found at the National Premier Leagues’ website.
