Smaller cities and communities like the ones in Georgia’s Historic Heartland often work together to help one another succeed. Many restaurants, breweries and growler shops on the Brews and Q’s Trail are invested in community successes and make an effort to purchase supplies from Georgia producers, like Georgia Butts BBQ in Eatonton, which uses fresh peaches from regional grower Lane Southern Orchards for their famous peach cobbler. Athens’ Creature Comforts brewery produces several offerings for its ‘locally-grown series,’ including its DaySpring grisette brewed with wheat grown at DaySpring Farms in Danielsville, and a sour beer called Curious #6 made with peaches from Fort Valley’s Pearson Farms. Terrapin Beer partners with local company Jittery Joe’s coffee to share ingredients for its Wake-n-Bake beer as well as Jittery Joe’s Wake-n-Bake coffee, and Pulaski Heights BBQ in Athens serves its barbecue on buns made locally at Luna Bakery. Wherever you stop in the Brews and Q’s Trail and no matter what you order, it’s sure to taste like community partnership.
