Chili cook-off, ice sculptors, live entertainment and cozy cabin lodging make for romance at its best
BLUE RIDGE, GEORGIA –Sweet and salty? Black and white? It’s the yin and yang that makes these combinations so thrilling and now you can experience a thrill of your own up close in Blue Ridge, Georgia, situated about 90 minutes north of Atlanta off Interstate-575, during the Fire and Ice Festival and Chili Cook-off, February 15. Plan a three-day romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day weekend, which this year coincides with President’s Day allowing for extra time to feel the love in the North Georgia Mountains. Blue Ridge’s Fire and Ice Chili Cook-off combines cool ice sculptures with hot chili, cold beer and entertainment – it’s a perfect event to build your weekend around.
Taking place in scenic downtown Blue Ridge, noon to 6 p.m., with chili tastings up until 4:30 p.m., the free festival features entertainment by Laura Monk and High Cotton, along with The Buckner Brothers Band. Feast the eyes on ice carvings and watch as masters demonstrate the art. Cheer as an Ice King and Queen are crowned. Celebrate with a skate around the ice rink in the Blue Ridge City Park.
